Crews, not chosen ones.
J.D. Halvorsen writes adventure space opera about people who fix things under fire: salvage crews, tug pilots, apprentices, and the one stubborn foreman who won't sign off on a lie. Underdog wars, found-family crews, dry humor, and engineering competence as the sharpest weapon on the field. The first series, The Breakers' War, is in production now — Book 1, Salvage Rights, leads the way.
The fastest way to hear about releases is the reader list. The fastest way to say hello is jd@jdhalvorsen.com — reader mail is read, and answered.
Fair questions, straight answers.
Everything readers actually ask — including how these books are made. If something isn't covered here, email and ask.
When does Book 1 come out?
Salvage Rights is in production. No date promises until it's certain — the reader list hears the moment there is one, and hears it first.
Where will the books be available?
On Amazon, as ebooks in Kindle Unlimited at launch. If that ever changes, this page and the newsletter will say so plainly.
What do I get for joining the reader list?
Launch news, and the free prequel novella from Callan's Yard when it's ready. No weekly newsletter, no filler — if there's nothing worth telling you, you won't hear anything.
Do you use AI?
Yes — the drafting does. The stories, characters, and decisions are mine, and I read and revise every book myself before release.
How do I get in touch?
Email jd@jdhalvorsen.com. What worked, what didn't, which hull should fly next — reader mail is the best part of this job.
